Fairfax and Chantilly, VA

Due to GAA’s extensive experience with the design of VDOT chemical storage facilities throughout the State, Fairfax County approached our firm to design two facilities strategically located to service County residents. Prior to design we prepared a study that provided an extensive overview of the various storage options, advantages of the options, disadvantages of the options and estimated costs of various systems. It was very important to us that both the using agency and the County understood the various storage systems so that the entire team was comfortable and confident with the selected options.

In consideration of the design challenges presented by a corrosive environment, we evaluated the finishes of each building component in order to increase resilience and longevity in this harsh environment.

Underground storage tanks were provided for both facilities to collect stormwater runoff from the mixing pads during snow removal season.
